Stand up paddle in Pollino: balance, water and silence

Stand up paddle in Pollino: how a SUP experience in fresh water takes place, what you learn and when to choose this activity on the river.

Stand up paddle is often associated with the sea, but in fresh water it changes character. In the Pollino it becomes an exercise in balance and attention: you learn to stand on the board, use the paddle and observe the wind and current without being in a hurry.

The session begins in a calm area. The guide shows how to get on, find a stable position, paddle in line and change direction. Those who don't feel ready can start on their knees and gradually get up. The point isn't to stay dry: it's to learn to move consciously.

The SUP is suitable for those looking for a less intense activity than the rafting, for couples, small groups and people curious to work on breathing and coordination. Conditions matter a lot: wind, water level and temperature can change or move the session.

Board, paddle, jacket and expected equipment are provided. Bring your swimsuit, sunscreen, water, towel and change of clothes. Personal items should be left safe or protected in a properly secured waterproof bag.

Once you have found balance, the landscape changes: you proceed almost without noise, with your gaze at the height of the water. To find out when SUP sessions are available and which formula to choose, contact River Tribe with your dates and number of participants.
