At school in the Pollino National Park

An initiative designed to bring new generations closer to knowledge, respect and valorization of the largest natural park in Italy. The project involves the financing of school trips in the Park territory, with the aim of promoting eco-responsible school tourism, encouraging educational and discovery experiences linked to the natural, historical and cultural heritage of the Pollino.

“At school in the Pollino National Park” was born with the aim of:

• promote knowledge of the territory, its environmental and cultural peculiarities;

• promote sustainability, educating students to respect nature and protected areas;

• stimulate the active participation of students through direct experiences, workshops and field activities.

The initiatives envisaged in the program aim to integrate school teaching with training experiences in contact with nature, transforming the educational journey into a moment of personal and collective growth.

Educational issues

The thematic activities and lessons will be divided into different areas of interest, to offer students a complete and multidisciplinary experience:

• Nature, environment and sustainable development – excursions and workshops dedicated to observing the flora and fauna of the Park, with insights into biodiversity, environmental protection and climate change.

• Archeology and geology – guided visits to archaeological sites and study of the fascinating geological formations that characterize the Pollino.

• Orienteering, sport and health in protected areas - motor and orientation activities in nature, to promote well-being, team spirit and respect for the environment.

• Local culture and traditions – meetings and workshops on the customs, artisanal knowledge and cultural expressions of the communities living in the Park.

How to participate

The call is aimed at:

• Primary schools;

• State and private secondary schools of first and second level;

• Private and comprehensive institutes recognized throughout Italy.

The trips must take place in spring 2026, and must include:

• stay in accommodation facilities located on the Calabrian side of the Pollino Park;

• accompaniment of groups by official Park guides;

• carrying out educational, recreational-motor and sporting activities consistent with the themes of the project.

How to request the contribution

Interested schools must submit a request for participation, signed by their legal representative, by 31 October 2025.

The application form can be downloaded from the official website of the Park Authority, in the Notices and Notices section.
