What to bring for a day of rafting on the Lao River: clothing, what is already included, what you really need and practical advice for your descent on the Pollino.
For a day of rafting on the Lao river you need little: bathing suit, a technical shirt to wear under the suit, a change of dry clothes and the necessary for the shower. The neoprene suit, waterproof jacket, life jacket and helmet are provided by River Tribe, so you don't have to get it. The rest is common sense: shoes that can get wet, sun protection and want to have fun.
Let's see in detail what to bring and what is already included.
It is already provided by the center:
- Neoprene mute, which also keeps warm with fresh water.
- Waterproof windproof jacket.
- Rescue jacket approved.
- Protection helmet.
What to bring with you:
- Swimwear, to be worn already under the clothes.
- Technical t-shirt or breathable fabric to put under the suit for greater comfort.
- Water-friendly shoes: Shoe shoes, old sneakers or sandals with strap that do not slip. To avoid flip flops.
- A complete change of dry clothes for after the descent.
- Towel and necessary for shower (at the base there are dressing rooms and hot showers).
- Sun cream water resistant and, if you want, a hat for waiting.
Some extra advice. Leave home watches, jewels and valuables you could lose in water. Eyeglasses, if necessary, must be secured with a lace. To photograph the descent it would be necessary a well fixed waterproof action cam: Alternatively, the staff often make photos and videos of the experience, so you only think about paying. If you suffer cold, a thin thermal mesh under your skin helps in the coolest days of early or late season.
From the physical point of view do not need special qualities: rafting is accessible, but it is good to have rested, have made a light breakfast and be hydrated. Always listen to the guide briefing, follow the paid commands and communicate any health problems before leaving.
A simple preparation makes the day perfect: light arrivals, you dress up with the equipment of the center and enjoy the river.
