School trip to the Pollino: outdoor education on the Lao River

A school trip to Pollino becomes useful when the landscape is not just the background of the class photo. On the Lao students can observe water, rock, forest and teamwork through guided and age-appropriate activities.

The program is built with teachers. It can include an accessible rafting descent, river walking, orientation, reading of the territory and moments dedicated to the UNESCO Geopark. Before each experience, briefing, dressing and explanation of correct behaviors take place.

There are various possible objectives: environmental education, trust in the group, knowledge of river ecosystems, movement and autonomy. We don't look for performance. Every student must be able to understand what they are doing and why.

To organize you need class, age, number of companions, period, specific needs and transport times. The staff defines equipment, shifts, waiting spaces and alternative plan in case of unsuitable conditions. Teachers receive clear instructions on clothing and documentation.

River Camp offers a useful basis for managing school groups without dispersing them. Contact River Tribe well in advance: we will prepare a realistic program, with educational times and not just tourist ones.
