Packraft on Lao River: the boat that fits in the backpack

The packraft is a small inflatable boat, light enough to be carried in a backpack. On the Lao River it opens up a different possibility from the rafting: you are closer to the water, you control your own vehicle and alternate sections on foot and paddled sections following the logic of the territory.

It's not a miniature rafting. In the dinghy the group works like a crew; in packraft each participant learns to read the current, set the trajectory and maintain balance. For this reason the excursion begins with an explanation on land and a practical phase in calm water. Only then do you enter the route chosen by the guide.

There are introductory experiences and longer formulas. The former are suitable for those who want to try the discipline without previous experience. Exploratory days require more autonomy, resistance and willingness to carry equipment. Lao level, weather and group capacity always determine the final program.
