How to get to Laino Borgo and Pollino: car, train, plane

Laino Borgo is located at the Calabrian entrance to the Pollino National Park and is easily accessible by car thanks to its proximity to the A2 Mediterranean motorway (the historic Salerno–Reggio Calabria), which crosses the Park. By train you arrive at the stations of the Tyrrhenian line and then continue by road; by plane the most convenient airports are Lamezia Terme, Naples and the new Salerno–Amalfi Coast airport. The River Tribe base is at Laino Borgo (CS), right on the Lao River.

By car it is the most practical way to enjoy the freedom of moving between villages, paths and the river. The reference motorway exit on the A2 stretch is the one closest to Laino Borgo / Mormanno: from there you can reach the town and the base in a few minutes. Those arriving from the north (Salerno, Naples, Rome) take the A2 towards the south; those arriving from the south (Cosenza, Reggio Calabria) travel along it towards the north. The navigator set to Laino Borgo drives without difficulty.

By train the Tyrrhenian railway line serves the relatively nearby coastal towns; the useful stations are those in the area between Calabria and Basilicata, from which to continue by rental car, bus or transfer. The train is a good choice for those who want to reduce the impact of the journey, which can then be combined with a vehicle for the last kilometers towards the Park.

By plane the reference airports are:

• Lamezia Terme: the main Calabrian airport, convenient from the south, well connected and with a wide range of flights.

• Naples Capodichino: important airport in the north, with many national and international connections, from which you descend along the A2.

• Salerno–Amalfi Coast: more recent airport, which brings the Pollino even closer with new connections and represents a convenient gateway from the north.

From each of these airports you continue by car (rental) along the motorway towards the Park.

Some practical advice:

• The car is almost essential for exploring the area: consider renting if you arrive by train or plane.

• Set the navigator on Laino Borgo (CS) or directly on the River Tribe base.

• In high season, leave with a little margin: the journey is also part of the adventure.

• For groups or families, ask the staff for information on transfers and arrival solutions.
