Autumn in Pollino: foliage, trekking and Lao River

In autumn the Pollino slows down. The beech forests change color, the villages become quieter again and the first rains change the river. It is a season suitable for those who want to walk, photograph and experience the area with less crowds.

The trekking is the protagonist, but the days are getting shorter and the weather changes quickly. We set off early, with waterproof shoes, warm layers and protection from the rain. Wet leaves can make even easy paths slippery.

The rafting can remain available when flow rate, temperature and organization allow. You don't decide only by the date: the staff checks the Lao and proposes the most coherent route. An adequate wetsuit protects you from the fresh water, while a dry change becomes essential upon return.

Autumn invites you to combine an activity with a local lunch, a visit to Laino Borgo or a quiet night by the river. Chestnuts, mushrooms and seasonal products enter the kitchens, but harvesting in the Park follows rules that must be respected.
