The British newspaper has in fact reserved the incipit of an in-depth analysis dedicated to the rebirth of tourist, sporting and rural Italy to the Calabrian-Lucanian district, citing Laino Borgo, the town of two rivers, included in the network of the 'Most beautiful villages of Calabria'.
The historic villages are experiencing a revival after decades of decline, many small treasures known for their historical legacy and scenic beauty. The territory, an integral part of the Pollino National Park, established in 1993, which since 2015 has also been recognized as a UNESCO World Geopark, preserves and protects the loricated pine under its emblem.
The various mountains surrounding the valley offer excursions in pristine environments up to the highest peak of Mount Pollino. From its peaks, over 2200 meters above sea level, you can see, with the naked eye, the Tyrrhenian coasts of Maratea and Praia a Mare to the west and the Ionian coast from Sibari to Metaponto to the east.
