The car park located at the base of Monte Alpi, at 1250 mt on the sea level, is the starting point for one of the circular paths that we propose to reach the peaks of Monte Alpi.
After about 1km from our departure, we enter into a beautiful beech forest; the path will allow us to discover the heights and headlands that characterize this beautiful route.
Passing through Timpa Carlone you go up the whole ridge of Mount Teduro until you get to Piana Fiorita, one of the flat areas that we will meet along our route. From this point you go up to the north-west side of the mountain until you reach the highest point, Cima Pizzo Falcone 1900mt on the sea level. From here, you follow the whole ridge until you reach the gully that divides the two peaks, and you begin to walk the way back, hidden among the tops of the beeches, until you reach the viewpoint where we will find a young Pino Loricato clinging to the rocks: in this place you can see the particular tenacity of these wonderful plants, the way they come to life and resist in hostile and dangerous places. After a few hundred meters we arrive at the starting point, where we will finish our excursion.
Last stronghold of the Pollino Park, placed to guard the high Sinni valley, the Monte Alpi delimited the northern boundaries of our Park, and it is considered one of the most interesting and untouched places from the naturalistic and environmental point of view with a colony of wonderful Pino Loricato, also if very difficult to approach.
On clear sunny days, from the peaks you can see to the west the Tyrrhenian coast of Maratea and the Sirino Massif, to the east the Ionian Sea with the wonderful badlands, to the north the Val D’Agri and finally to the south the mountains Zaccana and Spina, with behind them the imposing massif of Pollino.
