TOUR BETWEEN LAINO CASTELLO AND THE MURALS OF LAINO BORGO
An itinerary suitable for everyone, ideal for families with children: the route begins with a walk on the mule track, the ancient road that allowed people to reach the town of Laino Castello, where you can see the ruins of the walls of the old fortress. The village was abandoned after the earthquake in Irpinia in 1982, when it was definitively considered unusable. Reached the upper part of the village we’ll visit the church of San Teodoro, with the bell tower recently restored, and then look out on what is called the “Vomero” of Laino Castello: an exceptional panoramic point, from which there is a 360° view of the chain of Monte Pollino, the villages of Basilicata and the valley in which flows the Lao river, through the little city of our River Tribe base camp: Laino Borgo.
From here, after a short transfer, we will continue our walk: from the Castle to the Village, to immerse ourselves in the alleys of the historic center enhanced by several murals of local artists who recall nature, food and customs of the characters who lived here. An exciting journey that smells of history, art and tradition.
The tour, on request, can also be made at night.
